Patent Infringement
Definition:
Unauthorized making, using, offering to sell, selling or importing into the United States any patented invention.
ALC
Definition:
Agency Location Code - an eight (8) digit code assigned to U.S. government agencies by the Department of Treasury.
Bio-sequence Listings
Definition:
A document that must be included only if a nucleotide or amino acid sequence is part of the invention.
Inventor
Definition:
Inventor names are recorded for all patents.
Cancellation Proceeding
Definition:
A proceeding before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in which The plaintiff seeks to cancel an existing registration of a mark.
Applicant
Definition:
An application for patent filed under 35 U.S.C. 111(a) that includes all types of patent applications (i.e., utility, design, plant, and reissue) except provisional applications.

Public users may perform preliminary searches of patent information in a variety of formats including on-line, microfilm, and print at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Public Search Facility located in Alexandria, VA. State of the art computer workstations provide automated searching of patents issued from 1790 to the current week of issue. Full document text may be searched on U.S. patents issued since 1971 and OCR text from 1920 to 1970. U.S. patent images from 1790 to the present may be retrieved for viewing or printing. Some foreign patent documents are available.
